Speeches
Ethanol and Fuel Prices

I am delighted to contribute to the debate on this topic. Obviously there are three parts to the motion. The first expresses concern about petrol prices. Everyone is concerned about petrol prices. The member for Burrinjuck said that during the last week the price of petrol was $1.43 at Young, and the honourable member for Bega made the point that it is now up to about $1.49. So right across the state people are concerned about petrol prices. But the situation has not changed in recent years: it is a concern we have all spoken about for some time.

LET'S FIX NSW - Better Transport and Infrastructure

Speech at Harrington Park Community Centre, Harrington Park

Thank you Andrew for your introduction.

As I’ve said throughout this campaign, .. unlike Morris Iemma, I’m proud of my team and I’m proud of my Party.

I am particularly pleased to lead a Coalition team in partnership with Andrew Stoner and the Nationals.

Andrew Stoner is a thoroughly decent man. And the Nationals are a true and effective voice for rural, regional and coastal NSW.

The Liberals and Nationals have a strong Coalition in Opposition. And we will have an even stronger Coalition in Government - where we will get on with the job of fixing NSW.

LET'S FIX NSW - to deliver better health for our community

Castlereagh Community Hall, Castlereagh - 11th March 2007

Thank you for your welcome.

It’s great to be here in Castlereagh, in this great old community building.

When I come to places like this, I am reminded of the enduring Australian quality of community.

Places like these were built many years ago by people who were passionate about the new life they were creating in their community,  often using their own very limited resources and their own hands, to provide the facilities their families needed.

Real life experience to fix NSW

Speech at  Doltone House, Pyrmont - 9th March 2007

Thank you Barry for your introduction. And thank you to all of you for coming along today. We appreciate your support.

This is a difficult week for all Australians. The events in Indonesia have saddened us all. And our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

It’s great to be here with John Howard – unlike Morris Iemma John Howard is a man who’s not ashamed of his party, his party’s record or his team.

LET'S FIX NSW - to makes our communities safer

Speech at Toowoon Bay Surf Life Saving Club

Good morning. Thank you for giving Deborah and I such a warm welcome.

We love being here on the Central Coast.

You’ll be pleased to know that unlike some recent visits by Labor Ministers, we arrived by car – not helicopter.

Deborah and I have been regulars to this area for a long time.

And as Leader of the Opposition I have had the opportunity to spend time here listening to the local community about what needs to be fixed, and how we should fix it.
