| Lane Cove Tunnel: Morris Iemma's $25m Taxpayer-Funded Election Cover-Up |
|
NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam said today the community are outraged at Morris Iemma's $25 million taxpayer-funded election cover-up of the Lane Cove Tunnel road changes.
"This is nothing more than a $25 million taxpayer-funded cover-up before the election," Mr Debnam said.
"All Morris Iemma is doing is using taxpayer's funds to delay the Lane Cove Tunnel road difficulties until after the election," he said.
"This is a $25 million taxpayer-funded cover-up and the people of NSW are paying for it.
"It was the Iemma-Costa Labor Government which signed the Lane Cove Tunnel contract. Taxpayers have already paid enough for the Labor Government's mistakes without being forced to pay yet again.
"All Morris Iemma is doing is throwing money at the problem to remove difficult headlines before the election.
"Morris Iemma and Eric Roozendaal are treating the public like fools.
"This $25 million taxpayer-funded cover-up doesn't remove the road closure problems associated with the Lane Cove Tunnel, but it does get the Labor Government past the election.
"Morris Iemma needs to fix the problems, not hide them from the community.
"Like the flawed contract Labor wrote and negotiated on the Cross City Tunnel, the Iemma-Costa Government knows it has made the same mistakes with the Lane Cove Tunnel and Morris Iemma is running from accountability," Mr Debnam said. |
