Shadow Minister for Energy Peter Debnam today slammed the Iemma Labor Government for a blatant re-announcement on clean coal as a fig leaf for its inaction on new energy technologies. Shadow Minister for Energy Peter Debnam today slammed the Iemma Labor Government for a blatant re-announcement on clean coal as a fig leaf for its inaction on new energy technologies. "Morris Iemma has done nothing to address the energy crisis facing NSW," Mr Debnam said. "Mr Iemma's inaction has been exposed today by a desperate re-announcement ahead of the March State Election," he said. "Morris Iemma has been on holidays since the election and now he's been exposed as a fraud. "Morris Iemma's clean coal announcement has come up contaminated. "After approving the Anvil Hill coal mine yesterday, Labor is desperate to paint itself as environmentally friendly, but the reality is anything but - they are a fraud. "Morris Iemma is building a greenhouse gas belching desalination plant in the Sutherland Shire described by his predecessor as 'bottled electricity'. He has no credibility on energy or the environment. "Morris Iemma has also failed to invest in alternative energy sources, such as solar, wind and wave power. "In Parliament yesterday, I placed a question on notice asking the Iemma Government what action it had taken to support clean coal technology. "Clearly Morris Iemma's only answer to make tired re-announcements. "This is a Labor Government devoid of ideas and out of touch," Mr Debnam said. |
