Vote to fix NSW
Peter Debnam's Blog - Friday, 23rd March 2007
The first thing that needs to be done to fix NSW, is to vote to fix NSW, its your decision.
If you truly believe that in two years time NSW will be a better place under Joe Tripodi, Frank Sartor and Michael Costa, then go for it, Vote Labor.
But if not, then please vote for your local Liberal or Nationals candidate to give our team the chance to fix NSW, because you know that Labor will not do it.
We have said all along that the biggest risk at this election is that nothing changes. A vote for Labor tomorrow, means that nothing will change.
If Labor is re-elected tomorrow , then you can expect more chaos on public transport, more infrastructure bungles like the Cross City Tunnel, more delays in our Hospitals and Emergency departments, longer waits for air conditioning in schools, police without the resources and powers to do the job and four more years of higher taxes and the list goes on.
And you will also get a $1.9 billion desalination plant at Kurnell, the next in a long line of infrastructure failures of the Carr-Iemma Labor Government.
By contrast we have set out our straight forward plan to fix NSW. We have identified $8.9 billion of savings to fund an $8.8 billion plan to fix NSW, including
- more than $1.3 billion in land tax and payroll cuts,
- 500 more nurses, 200 more teachers and 1,720 more police,
- a comprehensive plan to use recycled water to boost our drinking water supplies that will deliver almost twice the water at half the cost of Labors desalination plant,
- more than $2.1 billion to fix our roads, schools, hospitals and public transport infrastructure.
For twelve years Morris Iemma has been there as part of this Labor government, every Sorry day. And during this time, NSW has gone from one crisis to another.
And whats Labors response? SORRY, just SORRY, then SORRY again.
Well, I have never known a SORRIER Government, than Labor in NSW.
Hollow apologies and more of the same, thats what youll get with four more years of Labor.
And youll get Michael Costa, Frank Sartor and Joe Tripodi, because these are the Labor Ministers Morris Iemma will re-appoint next week to run NSW if Labor is re-elected tomorrow.
But it doesnt have to be this way. Tomorrow, you can change all this.
Tomorrow you can vote Liberal or Nationals and say Sorry Morris, but after twelve years, Labors had long enough. Its time to fix NSW.
For twelve years, Labor has failed the people and families of NSW.
On Saturday, Im asking you to give our team the chance to fix NSW, because Morris Iemma and Labor wont do it
So tomorrow, please vote to start fixing NSW.
Thank you.
Regards,
Peter Debnam
PS Thank you also to the Daily Telegraph for the opportunity to provide this daily blog, and to everyone for your comments. Its a shame Mr Iemma decided to stop blogging two weeks ago. Elections should be about debating the issues. Tomorrow you can have your say.
