| Debnam Launches "NSW Needs Change" Public Transport Tour |
|
NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam today used the announcement of a NSW Liberal/Nationals policy freezing public transport fares to launch the next phase of his Get NSW Back in Front campaign for the State Election on March 24.
The tour titled NSW Needs Change will see Mr Debnam take his message directly to commuters on NSW trains, buses and ferries, where he will be travelling each day to highlight the importance of using public transport. He'll be talking directly to commuters and the travelling public about the changes NSW needs. People will also be able to log onto Mr Debnams campaign website www.peterdebnam.com.au and make their suggestions directly about the changes NSW needs. The tour follows a highly successful four-week Get NSW Back in Front - Living the Issues tour of NSW in ethanol-powered vehicles that saw Mr Debnam and his wife Deborah visit 30 electorates in 27 days and announce 52 policies on issues ranging from alternative fuels and solar power, to water recycling and rural heath services. The clear message I received from the hundreds of people Deborah and I met during January was that NSW needs change," Mr Debnam said. "Whether it's Labors failure to plan and act on water for the past 12 years, the lagging state of our economy or declining standards in our hospitals, public transport and other core services, I have been overwhelmed by the chorus of people and families across the state who are crying out for change," he said. "The biggest risk facing NSW at this election is that nothing changes. "Labor are paralysed by their own scandals and totally distracted from fixing the many problems they created. After 12 years of seeing our state fall behind, NSW needs to make a change. Labor has had long enough. "Just like last time with Bob Carr, Labor will promise to get it right this time. But if Labor is re-elected, the same old faces - Michael Costa, Joe Tripodi and Frank Sartor - will all be sitting around the Cabinet table making the decisions that will affect your future for another four years theyre already picking out their new portfolios. "You dont have to imagine what life will be like if Labor is re-elected on March 24. You already know, youve put up with it for twelve years. "Giving Labor 16 years is a risk NSW cant afford. The NSW Liberal/Nationals have a straightforward plan to get NSW back in front. "Our plan contains straightforward proposals to deliver better basic services, restore our economy, tackle our water crisis and build the infrastructure NSW needs to grow. "The policies are fully funded and fully costed and you can see them all at www.peterdebnam.com.au. To change NSW we need to change the Government. You cant fix NSW's problems by re-electing Labor. "On 24 March the people of NSW have a clear choice. More of the same from Labor, or the change NSW needs from a new Liberal/Nationals Government. So on March 24, lets make the change NSW needs," Mr Debnam said.
