| NSW Needs A Govt That Will Work For The Community For A Full Four Year Term |
|
NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam said today revelations Morris Iemma wont deliver on his election commitments until just before the next election is exactly the kind of dithering and delay NSW doesnt need.
Morris Iemma says theres more to do, but if hes elected he wont put in more resources for another three years, Mr Debnam said. NSW simply cannot afford to mark-time for three-quarters of a term of government, he said. This is exactly what weve seen from Morris Iemma and Labor for twelve long years. Trains need fixing, the economy needs a kickstart, the public service needs a restructure, preschools need more funding and our hospitals need more nurses but Morris Iemma and Labor believe all that can wait while they do nothing. The nursing shortage is the most disgusting example of Labors dithering and delay. After promising an extra 2,500 nurses during the election campaign, this promise has been revealed as a total sham, with only $19 million to help with ongoing recruitment costs. Labor has form on acting in its own electoral interests by manipulating expenditure at the publics expense. This is the same Labor Government that cut police numbers between elections, only to rush through graduates weeks ahead of the polls. NSW deserves a Government that will work for the community for a full four year term, not just in the months leading up to the next election. NSW needs a Premier and a Government that will start working for the community on day one, thats what a Debnam led Liberal/Nationals Government will do. Labors plan if they're re-elected is to simply put its feet up for another three years while the states problems get worse and NSW falls further behind, Mr Debnam said.
