| Debnam Says No To Gaming In Shopping Centres |
|
NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam said today a NSW Liberal/Nationals Government would not allow poker machines into shopping centres. "I will not allow poker machines in shopping centres," Mr Debnam said.
"Why have Morris Iemma and the Labor Government allowed poker machines into our shopping centres?" he asked. "And why did Morris Iemma feel the need to do this just before the State election under the cover of the Christmas/New Year period? "Morris Iemma must explain to the people of NSW why he's making gambling even easier by allowing poker machines into our shopping centres. "Morris Iemma doesn't know where to draw the line. Labor always pushes the envelope and on this occasion they've gone way too far. "It was Labor that put poker machines in pubs; it was Labor that increased the taxes on clubs threatening their viability; and now Morris Iemma and Labor want poker machines in our shopping centres. "I will veto this regulation on day one in Government. "I will not allow our shopping centres to be turned into casinos," Mr Debnam said. |
